Well. Here we are. After an hour or two of designing this blog (at 2AM, I might add), we stand at the precipice of one of the scariest things I've ever done in my life: writing a blog. Blogs require 1) talent, something I never really thought I had, 2) content, something my seemingly boring life lacks, and 3) a witty author, something I am not. However, I am willing to take the challenge and hopefully grow into a witty author with an exciting life that is good at putting said life into words. Words that other people actually want to read. Anyways, I have a few goals I want to accomplish through this whole blogging thing:
1. Become a better writer. I have a science and math oriented brain, there's not a doubt about it. Ask ANY of my friends or family and they will say the same. That being said, I don't enjoy writing research papers, I'm not good at putting some of my thoughts into words, and I don't like doing so. Therefore, these are obviously things I need to work on.
2. Become a more confident human being. Through putting pretty much my entire life on the Internet (or at least the exciting parts), I'm exposing parts of my identity that haven't even really been discovered yet. And I realize now, before this this even goes live, that I shouldn't care what people think of my content. This blog is for me. No one else.
3. Take time for myself to be creative. With my hectic schedule, I don't have time for a creative outlet. The most creative thing I do on a regular basis is decide if I want to left-align or right-align my name at the top of my organic chemistry lab report. I think expressing my thoughts and ideas in writing will help decrease my stress levels by allowing some thoughts to exit my cranium, and I think I can be a happier, more productive person because of this.
I don't have much else to say, other than this new endeavor will be something very interesting, to say the least...
Sincerely,
T
